Firm obtains dismissals of EEOC claims for clients

Richard Johnson successfully secured the voluntary dismissal of a lawsuit brought in the District Court of the Northern Mariana Islands. The client involved is a multinational enterprise with operations in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The lawsuit asserted claims of discriminatory conduct in evaluating job applicants, claims which were vigorously denied by the client.

Mr. Johnson also recently secured dismissal of an EEOC complaint against a local Guam employer filed with the Guam Department of Labor. That complaint alleged harassment in the workplace in violation of Title VII of the Civil rights Act of 1964. The Department of Labor closed the case shortly after receiving a response prepared by Mr. Johnson.

The offering company is a leisure tourism group with assets and activities based in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.

William Joseph Blair, Esq. (1947 - 2019)

Long serving President of the firm, William Joseph Blair, Esq., passed away on April 23, 2019 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Mr. Blair was born on December 13, 1947 in Vallejo California. He was predeceased by his parents Billy Joe Blair and Mary Jeanette Collins and his brother James Blair. Bill is survived by his loving wife Teresita and a very large and caring Manabo family of the Philippines, his sisters and their spouses, Meredith (Conrad) Rond of St. George, Utah, Dorian (Dennis) McBride of Oregon City, Oregon and his brother Frank of Catalina Island, California and their families.

His is also survived by the attorneys and staff of Blair Sterling Johnson & Martinez, the many attorneys and staff who have passed the firm in the 42 years Bill worked here and innumerable friends and acquaintances in Guam, the CNMI, Micronesia and across the globe.

Bill also loved sports. He coached and managed a local little league baseball team until eventually asked by parents and other coaches to serve as president of the league. He also played for, coached, and managed a softball team, known as “The Guzzlers” made up of lawyers, accountants, bankers, business executives and other prominent Guam business and civic leaders for over 20 years. Many of those teammates and friends still call him “Coach.”
